關于believe in sb.和believe sb.的用法辨析

在《英語相似詞語辨析詞典》 第143頁上有這樣兩個句子：I believe him. (= I think he is a good comrade.)我信任他。/ I believe in him. (=I believe what he says.) 我相信他說的話。

我認為上述內容是錯誤的。理由如下：

1. 商務印書館國際有限公司2009年1月北京第1版《薄冰英語慣用法詞典》指出：believe sb. 與believe in sb.的區別：前者是“相信某人（的話）”；后者是“信賴”、“信任某人（人格、為人方面）”。例如：You can ask yourfather if you don’t believe me. 你如果不相信我的話，可以去問你父親。/ She used to believe in me. 她過去一直信任我。 (p.113)

2. I don’t believe you!我不相信你的話!（《牛津高階英漢雙解詞典》第9 版p.175）

3. believe in sb. 的意思是: to feel that you can trust sb. and / or that they will be successful (信賴；信任；相信某人會成功) They need a leader they can believe in. 他們需要一個可以信賴的領導。（《牛津高階英漢雙解詞典》第9 版p.176）

4. He says he’ll help us , but I don’t believe him . 他說他會幫我們，但我不相信他的話。（《韋氏高階英漢雙解詞典》p.181）

5. believe in (someone): to have trust in the goodness or ability of (someone)相信 ... 的優點（或能力）Despitehis problems, his parents still believe in him . 盡管他有一些毛病，他的父母仍相信他是個好孩子。She believes in herself and in her abilities. 她相信自己，也相信自己的能力。（《韋氏高階英漢雙解詞典》p.181）
